Eric Yoffie's Questionable Resolution

By Jerome S. Kaufman, World Jewish News Agency Columnist, National Secretary of the Zionism Organization of America

One can’t help but wonder how the more than 2000 voting delegates at the Union for Reform Judaism developed the military and political expertise to draft a resolution demanding a clear exit strategy from Iraq? How embarrassing for the Jews to have one of their largest organizations take such a stand against an administration attempting to defend us, despite dedicated politically-motivated malicious criticism from almost all the media and dissident groups as typified by flagrant anti-Semites like Cindy Sheehan and her scruffy band of malcontents camping outside President Bush’s home in Texas...Read full article

Europe under Siege By Dr. Daniel Pipes. Two recent stories dramatically illustrate Europe’s looming immigration problem. One concerns a gang estimated to have smuggled 100,000 illegal immigrants, mainly Turkish Kurds, into Great Britain. These economic migrants paid between £3,000 and £5,000 to be transported via an elaborate and dangerous route. The Independent explains: “Their journeys lasted several weeks and involved safe houses, lorries with secret compartments and, in some cases, clandestine flights to airfields in the South-east.”...

PHOTOTeshuvah: Making Yesterday's Heaven Today's Earth. By Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz. How can we know, when we stand before God time after time to do teshuvah, whether we are truly "returning" to God, or if we are merely deluding ourselves? Teshuvah is how the soul, our spiritual aspect that remains cloaked in our earthly bodies, can repair or deepen its connection to its Source, which is God...

Syria prepares for arrival of Russian S-18 missiles. MOSCOW - A Syrian military delegation headed by chief of staff Gen. Ali Habib has concluded arrangements for the delivery of the S-18 Igla-S missiles, Russian industry sources said. The Syrian delegation, which completed a three-day visit to Russia on Sept. 30, discussed delivery, training and maintenance of the S-18 as well as the procurement of other weapons.

Energy Freedom By Rabbi Shea Hecht, World Jewish News Agency Social Commentator and Columnist. Did you know that it took almost 40 years for the telephone to be accepted into society as an everyday object? In fact the telephone was invented in 1876, but didn't reach from one end of the USA to the other until 1915 because there was little interest in the instrument. Because people felt that the telephone would destroy the warmth of face to face communication and they didn't take to the invention, there was no real need to rush with the long distance service.

Tshuva. By Paula R. Stern, World Jewish News Agency Columnist. Yom Kippur is upon us. It is a time of introspection and retrospection, a time to do tshuva, repentance, for the wrongs we have done to others. It is a time to ask and find answers to many questions. What more could we have done? What shouldn’t we have done? What could we have done better? Did we try our hardest to be the best we could be? Were we kind enough, generous enough, understanding enough?

Our Moments. By Paula R. Stern, World Jewish News Agency Columnist. The holiday of Sukkot is a yearly event that reminds us of the fragility of life. We make ourselves vulnerable, a reminder of how small we are in the universe. The stars above us through the night and the sun beating down on us during the day remind us that life is about the moment. Yesterday we had a home, today we dwell in a hut. Tomorrow is hours away. Sukkot is about this moment.

Give them the Death they Revere. By Arlene Peck, World Jewish News Agency Columnist. The Arabs are bombing, murdering, mutilating, raping and wreaking havoc all over the Judeo/Christian world.  Israel has nothing to do with it…nothing!   The front pages have been completely filled with the latest catastrophic actions from these savage, barbaric Arabs who tortured and slaughtered hundreds of school children and their mothers during the past few days in the horrific school bombings.  Children! Babies, who were forced to drink their own urine, because they were tortured and denied water and food for over two days. ..

AdvertisementZOA-INITIATED SAUDI ARABIA ACCOUNTABILITY ACT LEADS TO SENATE HEARINGS ON SAUDIS PROMOTING JIHAD & HATRED OF AMERICA AND CHRISTIANS IN U.S. MOSQUES. New York -  As part of the ZOA-initiated Saudi Arabia Accountability Act of 2005, the Senate Judiciary Committee on October 25 will be conducting hearings into materials bearing the seal of the government of Saudi Arabia inciting Muslims to acts of violence and promoting hatred of Jews and Christians, as well as Saudi materials describing democracy and America as un-Islamic, instructing recent Muslim immigrants to consider Americans as enemies, urging new arrivals to use their time...

Consequences of a Nuclear Iran. Even if Iran is not going to use the bomb against anybody including Israel, there are still very negative implications from its acquisition of the bomb. First, if Iran acquires the bomb, it will encourage other countries in the Middle East to join this nuclear arms race, especially Egypt, and perhaps Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Algeria, and Syria.

Terrorism-for-export returns to Lebanon, courtesy of Syria and Iran. After years of resting on his laurels, Ahmed Jibril has been ordered by Syria to reactivate his Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC) and begin operations aimed at destabilizing Lebanon and the Palestinian Authority. Western intelligence sources said Iran and Syria have cooperated in bolstering the PFLP-GC with recruits and weaponry to carry out major attacks in several Mideast states...

Self-imposed Limitation is the Cause. By Steven Shamrak. The UN, USA, EU and even Arab states are not to be blamed for Israel's problems. They have always been disparaging of Jews. We will never be able to please them or change their nature. Disunity, self-hate and lack of direction are the main problems of the Jewish people.

GUSH KATIF VIEWPOINT: PREPARATIONS. By  Rachel Saperstein, Jerusalem Gold Hotel, World Jewish News Agency Columnist. Kol Israel, our national radio, called. I often speak on their English News program commenting on events affecting the people of Gush Katif. The day before Rosh Hashanah I received a call. “What preparations are the people of Gush Katif making for the Rosh Hashanah holiday?”

Increasing Tension between Syria and Lebanon By H. Avraham. Syrian-Lebanese relations have recently been strained. Two factors have contributed to increased Syrian apprehension regarding the policies of the new Lebanese government: the win, by anti-Syrian elements, of a majority of the seats in the Lebanese parliament, and these elements' increasing power in the new Lebanese government. In response, Syria has pressured Lebanon with a number of measures: delaying Lebanese trucks at border crossings, calling it an operation to prevent arms being smuggled ...
