NEW YORK'S DIVAS                                          JODY SANDHAUS, A WORLD CLASS SINGER. ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT! A KNOCKOUT!

AMAZINGLY RICH REPERTOIRE AND HEART FELT VOICE! ALMOST PERFECT!

Jody Sandhaus has developed her own persona; an artistic identity built upon creative approach to Jazz. A very distinct and refreshing attitude toward the traditional, the standards and the "innovative". Unlike her peers and jazz vocalists, Ms. Sandhaus freed herself from conventionalism. This superb singer is not limited nor restrained by the "Jazz Book". For, she fertilizes traditional standards with seeds of songs and ballads totally unrelated to a dogmatic, rigid choice of Jazz favorites. In that sense, Ms. Sandhaus becomes overwhelmingly creative and inquisitive. Such inquisition had tremendously enriched her repertoire. Consequently, she succeeded in creating the "Sandhaus Image and the Sandhaus Repertoire". A most delightful, rich and engaging musical domain of well crafted, well chosen and admirably delivered songs. A monumental and warmly intelligent musical accomplishment. Thus, expect to hear the best of the best of ballads, songs and tunes, regretfully forgotten or missed by many Jazz vocalists.

Her repertoire and characteristic style appeal to a wide audience ranging from all walks of life. It is a fresh, multi-colored, rich and hauntingly  captivating rainbow of vocal beauty and music splendors. This could possibly explains Ms. Sandhaus public appeal and wonderful rapport with the public. She succeeded! The critics and the public agreed. Jim Macnie from The Village Voice said: “Her drama is light, refreshingly so. Meaning that in the middle of, say, The Ballad of the Sad Young Men, where melancholy is everywhere, the singer manages to provide us a pat on the back…”.  In Cadence, Jerome Wilson wrote: "“..has one of those simple, direct voices that can stab you in the heart…exceptional gift for communicating…a singer I’d definitely like to hear more of.” The best comes from LEE PROSSER, JAZZREVIEW.COM, who gave her  5 STARS. He wrote: "an enchanting, entertaining journey through some exceptional songs... a voice that is subtle, sensitive, and projects clearly a strong emotional tone. 53 minutes of wonderful jazz   by a young songbird who knows her way with jazz vocals and shares that way with the audience! ...the clear beauty of her version, "I'll Think of You," accompanied by the gifted jazz pianist Pete Malinverni. Every song is a standout, perfect performance, the perfect trio backing her perfect voice! ...a singer who can give some of the most intimate jazz vocals on the jazz scene! ... what jazz singing is all about in contemporary jazz! Excellent!". "Impressive range and crystal clear intonation...hints of future greatness ..sparkling "It's A Most Unusual Day"... an archly malevolent treatment of "Small Day Tomorrow" that is a knockout.", wrote Christopher Loundon in JAZZTIMES. Doug Moody, from the Jazz Radio Program KMFB-FM said: "I love your CD.  I really haven't stopped listening to it yet. The tunes you selected for this recording are some of my favorites, especially "Small Day Tomorrow" and "For Heaven's Sake" . Pete's trio compliments perfectly... a very special and satisfying experience."

Grab her CDs. You will enjoy them for years to come. First class. Two thumbs up, all the way! Continues on page 20
