PAULETTE ATTIE: "The most beautiful site to my eyes? The joy in another person’s eyes."
|
Q-The best idea you ever came up with? Paulette Attie: To write a book called, “The Seven Keys to Live a Masterful Life.” But I don’t think that was exactly my idea. Following my heart and intuition always proves to be another “best thing I ever came up with.” Q-What makes Paulette Attie, so different from other sparkling stars? Paulette Attie: My halo, of course. The tongue out of cheek answer is that I love what I do and know it’s what I’m meant to do Q-What is the most pleasant sound to your ears? Paulette Attie: Listening to music played beautifully, from Beethoven to honky tonk blues. Q-And the most beautiful site to your eyes? Paulette Attie: The joy in another person’s eyes. It’s such an affirmation of life. Q-What do you fear most in life? Paulette Attie: Let’s call it worry, rather than fear, because if we really fear something, there’s a good chance we’ll bring it on. That being said, that I won’t someday be able to see sky and trees when I look out my windows (as contrasted to concrete and buildings). There’s also the divisive condition that exist in the world today. Have you read my columns, Making Matters Better, for the New York Monthly Tribune? They represent my modest way of sending out the reverse kind of energy. I worked with the children at P.S. 1 in N.Y. right after 9/11. It was the closest school to the twin towers that was still standing. At the 6 month anniversary of 9/11, I sang my song, “United Are We” on TV with 50 children from that school. I received a letter of thanks from President Bush for that, and other work I did with children. Q-What do you cherish most? Paulette Attie: Family and friends. Q-If you had to write your memoirs or biography, what title would you give to your book? Paulette Attie: About Time, which is also the name of my one woman, off Broadway show. Subtitle, for the show was, How We Use It, Abuse It, and Chanteuse It. For my memoirs, I would change the pronoun to from “We” to “I.” Q-What goes in your mind, right before you appear on stage and facing your audience? Paulette Attie: I dedicate the show to the audience for whom I’m performing. Q-And upon leaving the stage? Paulette Attie: Wow! That was fun!! And then I make a mental list of things I’d like to improve for the next time around. Q-What do you notice first about a person you meet for the first time? Paulette Attie: Almost everything, from their looks and how they move, to how they speak, what they say, if they’re speaking from the heart, so many things.

![]() Q-And what people notice first about Paulette Attie? Paulette Attie: I’ve been told by people who notice, that I’m warm and gracious. I’m happy with that. Q-Stage is an elixir of illusion. Do you bring your life to stage, meaning Paulette Attie, the human being, or the Diva in you? Paulette Attie: It’s Paulette you get to see up there. What a blessing we’ve been given as artists to interpret life’s joys, sorrows, comedies, and tragedies through song. Mmmm delicious. Q-What are the virtues of a real singer? Paulette Attie: She has learned her craft well, and then makes it appear effortless. Is a dedicated interpreter of the words and music. Is a good Ambassador of her profession. Q-Do you tolerate vicious artistic ambitions? Paulette Attie: You mean the killer instinct? Whether I tolerate or not won’t change its existence. Q-What does success mean to you? Paulette Attie: To be acknowledged and even honored by my peers. I’ve enjoyed some of that in my life, having won a Silver Globe Award, an ASCAP Plus Songwriter Award for the past 6 years, and being written about often and magnificently by Maximillien de Lafayette. Q-To YOU, what is more important success/fame or talent. Paulette Attie: Talent trumps success/fame every time. Though I once delivered a sound bite on a national news show. Months later, people were still talking about seeing me on that program. I did get a kick out of that. Q-Any price an artist must pay to reach for stardom? Paulette Attie: To reach the highest degree of excellence takes incredible dedication, commitment, and sacrifice. Q-Did you pay that price? Paulette Attie: You’d better believe it. Q-What's next on your agenda? Performance, concerts, deals? Paulette Attie: I’m going to have my own internet show, on which I’ll be singing a new song every month. Where and when I expect will soon be announced and listed when you Google my name. Hopefully, my book, The Seven Keys to Live a Masterful Life will be published and make a difference in many people’s lives.
