The Scissor Sisters are to join the Pet Shop Boys as a headline act at the three-day Bestival music event on the Isle of Wight in September.

It is the only confirmed UK gig this summer for the American group. Also added to the line-up are indie act Mystery Jets, folk musician John Martyn and Nizlopi, who reached number one with a song about riding a JCB. Among the DJs playing sets will be Terry Hall, formerly of Fun Boy Three, and BBC Radio 1's Annie Nightingale. The festival, at Robin Hill Country Park in Newport, has already announced that the Stranglers, the Fall and Kid Creole and the Coconuts will be playing. Organizer and DJ Rob da Bank is due on stage, and also on the bill are his Radio 1 colleagues Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe. Lowe appears with his group Breaks Co-op, which he started in New Zealand in the late 1990s. Other artists playing at Bestival include electronic group Hot Chip, Canadian blues harmonica player Son of Dave, and the Bikini Beach Band, who specialize in surf-themed cover versions of classic hits. The event takes place from 8 to 10 September.

Dylan to play Basque peace show

Musician Bob Dylan is to give a free peace concert in a Basque region resort, according to organizers. Dylan is lined up to play the show in San Sebastian on 11 July to mark last month's permanent ceasefire by the Basque separatist group Eta. Ramon Etxezarreta, councilor for cultural affairs in the city, said Dylan, who last toured Spain in 2004, was on board for the event. The concert is planned as part of the city's jazz festival. Dylan is due to play an evening set on San Sebastian's Zurriola beach. It is reported that the artist has requested the event not be turned into a political occasion. In 38 years of conflict, Eta has been blamed for killing more than 800 people in its fight for independence for the Basque region of northern Spain and south-west France. The ceasefire has raised hopes of peace in the region. Dylan is already performing at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, which runs between 29 June and 2 July, as part of his Never Ending Tour schedule.

Dylan to play Denmark's Roskilde

Bob Dylan is one of the headline acts performing at this summer's Roskilde Festival in Denmark. He has added the event, running between 29 June and 2 July, to his Never Ending Tour schedule. Other artists already confirmed for the line-up include Guns'n'Roses, Morrissey and Deftones. The festival, which was founded in 1971, attracts up to 75,000 people each year to the town of Roskilde, 25 miles outside Copenhagen. It was original inspired by the US Woodstock Festival of 1969 and grew into one of Europe's largest festivals. Last year's event saw Snoop Dogg, Brian Wilson, Green Day and Ozzy Osbourne perform.
